Albanian born LA based, dark electro pop artist XHOANA X releases her new work entitled Deepest Pleasure. The new goth inspired single highlights haunting soundscapes, warm vocals and pulsating bass-lines. From an upbringing of one of the most tolerant spiritual cultures in the world, comes a unique style of art with a mixture of freedom, rebellion and heroism. Her newest video immediately caught our attention and features guitar work and a cameo from James ‘Munky’ Shaffer of Korn.
Interview Meikee Magnetic
Where were you born, raised and where do you reside now?
I was born in Tirana, Albania and reside in Los Angeles.
We’re excited about your newest musical work, tell us what you’ve been working on:
I’m so fuckin excited to finally release “THE VILLAIN EP”. It comes out January 11th following my recent release of “Deepest Pleasure” (DP) which is the 3rd single off the EP. It’s moody, dark and evocative.
Your new video Deepest Pleasure also has a cameo from Munky of Korn, we love the final result. Tell us a bit about your creative team:
I feel very grateful to have had my brother in law, Munky play guitar on the EP. He’s a legend; even more so because he wanted to be part of the “Deepest Pleasure” music video along with my ride or die older sister Evis. DP is my 4th single this year as well as the 4th video shot and released in a pandemic. I was very inspired in 2020 and or just trying to keep sane or both. I feel very lucky to have had collaborators who wanted to keep creating as well. I got to work with a woman director for the 1st time for “Deepest Pleasure”. Alison Roberto and her partner Sebastian Paquet did an amazing job on the treatment I wrote. We were adamant about having a small team for safety so it was just a 3 person team and 3 in front of the camera. I styled the video and did hair/makeup as well (full on 1 woman DIY independent artist). It’s a pandemic so I had to improvise. I do have to give a big thank you to my dear friend Anthony Kantor at Stone&Seed BH for lending me all the beautiful jewels I wore in the video. It was definitely the added touch to feel like a fucking Villain.
