Where were you born, where are you now and where would you like to go?
I was born in Dallas Tx. I am currently In Davenport Iowa. I would love to reside In California.
Tell us about your musical journey, how you started and how you arrived to where you are now:
Well, I started with a group when I was a kid but as I was getting older I had to find myself and my sound. During the time I was making a lot of mistakes trying to fit and be somebody I wasn’t. I remember getting told no I couldn’t do this but I wasn’t gonna be or do that. Nothing but negative people would always give me bad energy, even my family would doubt me and put me down. So I felt like I wasn’t going to get anywhere with music. I got messed over by a lot of people and labels due to the fact I didn’t understand the business aspect. Now that I found myself and stopped worrying about others and started doing things my way, I started pushing for the stars. Finally everything fell into the right place.
We love everything about your claim as the “First Gothic Rapper”, this is genre bending at it’s best yet this is just who you are naturally. How would you describe yourself to those just discovering you?
When I first came out I was so into rock/metal bands, yet like the traditional goths who were only into the rock music scene, I wanted to change the culture and do things differently. So I branched out and started tackling the hip hop scene and created my own unique flow and sound. When I see all these young rappers out now being goth, going into the rap scene, it makes me proud to know I broke those chains and made a wave. For the ones who didn’t know me now you know. Dig this, I do not have any limits to my music, I now tackle anything and that’s why they call me the magnificent one.
Your music video “People Think I’m Dead” has some really dark and shocking imagery, what’s the lyrical message in this song?
Yes it’s due to my movie ‘Social’ I was in. The message behind the lyrics is this: When people see me they think I’m dead so they’re quick to judge the book before they read the pages. With all that said, I’m not the one who’s really dead. The people who do the judging are really dead because they are not woken and open minded. They are delusional because the way their minds work, they see me as the bad evil person but in reality it’s really them.
What are you working on right now, any new releases?
Yes my new album “Gothic” drops next week, everyone will be in for a ride.
On your live Facebook posts we notice you have an outpouring of positivity in your words to those watching. Could you tell us more about your positive message?
I love to uplift people and put a smile on their faces. I love making them feel like everything will be okay, just don’t trust over things you can’t control. Your mind is a powerful thing and you can be trapped in it if you let It. If people know you are In control, life would become more simple. I’ll leave everyone with this: Believe in yourself and have faith in your abilities. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
What are your feelings about the political climate and social injustice happening now?
I’m with the #BLM movement but we can’t matter unless society allows it. I wish people would break the chains of this racist bullshit and make our ancestors proud to know that we stopped a cycle that keeps going on for years. Far as the COVID-19, only thing I can say is be safe and be careful. Keep your distance.
What does Dark Beauty mean to you?
When Darkness Falls, beauty is lit from within – So Magnificent.
