“When I close my eyes I see forests and sacred temples immersed in the green of pines and firs. I hope to describe these visions as best as I can, using my art as a vehicle of light and clarity.”
Interview Meikee Magnetic
Where were you born and where are you now?
I was born in Bergamo, which is the city where I currently live. In the near future I plan to move somewhere near the woods with Mario (Ferrara, a.k.a. Indigo & The Sirens).
Is there a strong music scene where you are?
I definitely think there isn’t one. Independent singers/songwriters are barely considered in my city and country, which are very attached to the old school scene. People nowadays tend to search for young artists who rarely have a strong personality with something in their voice and style that define them as unique. They like catchy power hits with simple words and repetitive hooks. I think after a long day of work listening to uncomplicated music is probably better for them than blowing their brains out with intricate stuff.
Describe your sound and vision:
When I listen to my songs I can hear folk influences mixed with strong, electronic rock sounds. I grew up listening to Angelo Branduardi, Kate Bush, Édith Piaf and Enya, who are some sort of storytellers to me. Then I started listening to HIM, My Chemical Romance, Marilyn Manson and Panic! At The Disco. These genres melted together in a strange and marvelous way in my head. When I close my eyes I see forests and sacred temples immersed in the green of pines and firs. I hope to describe these visions as best as I can, using my art as a vehicle of light and clarity.
What type of artist would you categorize yourself as?
I would categorize myself as a modern minstrel with a pop-punk attitude.
Tell us about your new single and video:
A Little Piece Of You is the story of how I sold my soul to the demon I loved. This is the way I like to describe how I felt and still feel about it. When I was younger I thought love was some kind of salvation. I was ready to give myself entirely to the one I chose as my soulmate. Unfortunately we all know how those things go, I lost myself. I think that these kind of things that were part of my life made me the woman I am now. I’m grateful for those that killed me at that time. They definitely carved beautiful pentagrams on my skin and gave me the opportunity to be reborn as Aradia.
Is there any musical instruments you have your eyes on?
I really love the sound of the cello, the harpsichord and the Great Highland Bagpipe. They remind me of landscapes and eras I feel I belong to.
Are there any other music projects your involved with?
Actually I’m involved with Indigo & The Sirens song named Ghost In The Sheets, whose video is the prequel of the story for my single.
To write and compose better music, to evolve and become one to everything that surrounds me. In order to better understand how it feels to be, as Pirandello wrote, “One, No One and One Hundred Thousand”.
What does Dark Beauty mean to you?
Dark Beauty is the wonderful sky at night. Without its darkness, stars couldn’t shine. Can you imagine a world without the beauty of darkness and no deep oceans below or the infinite space above us? Without the mystery and the thrill of what we fear the most as well as the monsters hiding under our beds? We would be nothing more than an empty shell of lies.
