As we cross the seas on our haunted ship, our Dark Beauty flag violently whips with a loud cracking sound. The fog horns blow with a rumbling that shakes your very soul. We dock our ship battered from the storm and in the distance we hear “Kon Ni Chi Wa, Nippon e youkoso irasshaimasita”.
Japan Import Hollow Mellow have already made their mark overseas, as Iruma and Nemu have traveled to France, Mexico, and America to perform. They now wish to continue to leave their musical imprint worldwide as Hollow Mellow.
Hollow Mellow is a three person band led by vocalist Iruma Rioka, featuring Nemu Raven on guitar and Jill on violin. Iruma and Nemu began their work together as the two members of “Iruma Rioka,” blending Iruma’s melodies, often featuring classical elements, and Nemu’s rock style to create a unique sound and vision. Together in 2008, Iruma and Nemu formed Hollow Mellow as a “dark fairy tale artist.” Hollow Mellow’s music is composed by Iruma with dark, gothic, fantasy and fairy tale, as well as classical and antique melodies infused with Nemu’s masterful arrangements of hard rock and heavy metal. In August of 2009, Hollow Mellow released their album, which was self titled. It wasn’t until July of 2014 that the members of Hollow Mellow decided to continue officially under this name, no longer as an entity of “Iruma Rioka,” and were joined by the talented violinist Jill. On September 29, 2014, Hollow Mellow held their first performance as this official unity. Be on the lookout for their U.S. release!
What magical place do you come from and describe your spirit?
We come from Wonderland. Iruma is a declining aristocrat, Nemu is a magic raven, and Jill is a black cat. We were all born in different places but we met on our travels being guided by fate.
